ways to give

Why should you give to Jewish Federation? The answer is simple. Giving will make you a part of the larger community – a community that is committed to Jewish life. Give because you want to help people in need. Give because you care about Jews in northern New Jersey, Israel and around the world. Give because you want a voice that advocates for the Jewish community. Give because you value Jewish experiences and have hope for tomorrow. In giving, you honor your parents and grandparents and deepen your children’s sense of Jewish identity. This is why Jewish Federation exists and we appreciate every meaningful gift that supports our mission to maintain a vibrant community.

Thank You

Everything that Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey has accomplished over the years was made possible because of you. Your millions of dollars in donations to our organization help support our vital programs and services.

Because of you, we live in a compassionate community. You donated, volunteered and supported Jewish life in northern New Jersey and beyond. You have strengthened the circle of Jewish life from our very youngest members through our seniors in northern New Jersey, Israel and around the world. Thank you for all your generosity!

Your gift has the power to impact so many Jewish lives.

Making an Impact – Our community needs you. Our community depends on you. It is because of you that Jewish Federation and our partner agencies are able to support and promote the Jewish community in northern New Jersey, in Israel and around the world. Every year we help almost 8,000 young adults have life changing Israel experiences. Every year 100,000 Jews in the former Soviet Union and Ukraine receive meals and medical supplies. Every year we save Jewish institutions over $500,000 through group purchasing. This is your Jewish Federation at work. Through your gift, you are caring for the most vulnerable in our extended Jewish community, building Jewish life here, in Israel and around the world and saving lives, one person at a time.

Endowment and Legacy Giving

Leaving Your Legacy – Jewish Federation’s Endowment Foundation’s mission is to secure and manage sources of funding which will support institutions and programs for future generations. Using a highly personalized approach, we match donors with appropriate giving vehicles to help them best support the causes they care about. Perpetual Annual Campaign Endowments (PACE) and Lion of Judah Endowments (LOJE) are popular ways to perpetuate your Jewish Federation support. Funding methodologies and their benefits are shown here. We honor legacy and endowment donors through our Dor L’Dor Society and Book of Life program. For those interested in organizing your charitable giving, we offer Donor Advised Funds. Jewish Federation’s Endowment Foundation also helps administer and manage endowment resources for local agencies, day schools and synagogues. Donor Advised Fund

Giving Has Never Been So Easy – A Donor Advised Fund helps you organize your charitable giving. Instead of making multiple contributions to individual charities, you write a single check or contribute assets to a single account. We help you do the rest. You may be eligible to get a tax deduction for amounts contributed to the fund, even if distributions to charities occur in future years. If you contribute appreciated securities, we will sell the stock and add the full value of the proceeds to your account. No capital gains taxes are owed, so the full amount is put to work for you. Also, any income and growth in your invested account is tax free, potentially increasing the amount available for your charitable giving. A Donor Advised Fund also offers a great way to include your family in philanthropy. We provide individualized service and can serve as a resource to you. Hudson County

Welcome to Hudson County! – Please join us in welcoming lower Hudson County to our northern New Jersey Jewish community. The cities of Hoboken, Jersey City and Bayonne have come together to create the Hudson County Regional Council which will develop, deepen and advance the relationship between Hudson County and Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey. Young professionals, empty nesters, retirees and a growing number of Israelis living in Hudson County are now able to benefit from even more events, activities and programs funded by Jewish Federation such as Moishe House Hoboken, Birthright Israel, One Happy Camper, Synagogue Leadership Initiative and social services. This new partnership will help expand our ability to nurture Jewish life locally in Hudson County and around the world. For more information, please contact Kim Schwartzman, Director, Outreach and Engagement at KimberlyS@jfnnj.org or 201-820-3936.

Tribute Cards

Show You Care – Are you celebrating a child’s Bar or Bat Mitzvah, rejoicing in the birth of a baby or want to send love or condolences to a friend in need? Jewish Federation will send a special tribute card for you. Any event worth recognizing — anniversary, engagement, thank you, a speedy recovery — is made more meaningful when you send a tribute card for $18, $36, $54 or any other amount. We’re happy to include your personal message and even mail it on your behalf. What an easy way to acknowledge a member of your family, a friend or colleague and support the work of Jewish Federation at the same time. For more information about Jewish Federation’s tribute cards, please contact Tara Mickendrow at taram@jfnnj.org or call 201-820-3935.
