What does it mean to be an Ally?

Come join us to hear from a panel of diverse young professionals speaking about their experiences. They will discuss what being an ally means to them and what being an ally entails.


Amanda M. Roman, MSW, is the Pride Coordinator of Latinx Services and a Constituent Service Representative for the Rockland County Legislature. She is a graduate of North Rockland High School with a B.S. degree in Forensic Psychology from City University of New York John Jay School of Criminal Justice and a M.S.W. degree from New York University. With 15 years at the Rockland County Legislature, Amanda has worked with the public as a liaison between constituents and their legislators with regards to community issues and concerns that arise on a daily basis. Her role with the Rockland County Pride Center involves reaching out to the Latinx LGBTQIA+ community to connect them with services and supports, along with co-facilitating the RC Pride Center’s youth program intended to encourage engagement and connections with other community youth during this pivotal moment in one’s life. As a lifelong Rocklander, Amanda has been involved in community engagement throughout her career. Outside of her professional work, Amanda remains politically engaged in local elections to ensure the needs of the community are being adequately addressed.

Alex Francisco (she/her) Alex is the Coordinator of Youth & Young Adult Services for the Rockland County Pride Center, and the founder of the Pride Center’s LGBTQ+ Youth Program. She brings more than two decades of experience in community organizing, performance, and self-care to the work.

Adal Regis (He/Him) Adal is a district representative at the U.S House of Representatives. He is also the founder and head of Soar Mentorship Inc. Soar Mentorship is a unique after-school initiative designed to empower the youth of color to excel in life through mentoring community collaborative efforts, and partnerships.

Sache Primeaux-Shaw (She/Her) Sache is a native of Oklahoma City and a tribal member of the Ponca Nation of Oklahoma. Sache serves as Director at REF Reading Clinic at Ralph Ellison Foundation. A content writer who creates content for various web and print publications. Sache writes about politics, social justice, WOC issues, Black and Native American history and heritage, genealogy, and much more.
