Mayim Chayim: The Quest for Sustainability in Israel - “For me, sustainability is so much more than economic efficiency or a cleaner environment. It’s about building a society that can sustain us and our children, materially and spiritually, now and in the future, together with the awe-inspiring world we live in and are a part of. So I focus on grounding the social-environmental discussion in a deeper context of a societal vision of the common ground based on cultural and spiritual values.” - Guest speaker Dr. Jeremy Benstein, co-founder and Deputy Director of The Heschel Center for Sustainability (Tel Aviv). Dr. Benstein is the author of The Way Into Judaism and the Environment (Jewish Lights, 2006). He lives in Zichron Yaakov with his wife, Professor Annabel Herzog, their five children and two cats. Kosher refreshments will be served. Location is handicap accessible and audio headsets are available. $5 members/ $10 nonmembers. All are welcome. RSVP required.
