REVEREND KING AND RABBI HESCHEL“TORAH TOWN HALL” SERVICE
January 19: 10:00 am - 11:30 amFree
Congregation B’nai Israel in Emerson will host a “Torah Town Hall” Shabbat Service on Saturday, January 19th from 10:00am-11:30am where, as part of the Shabbat morning interactive Torah discussion, today’s news will be considered in light of the legacies of Rabbi Dr. Abraham Joshua Heschel and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. If these leaders were alive today, what issues would be most pressing to them: criminal justice Reform, the environment, voting rights? Where would they stand on such issues as the American response to Jamal Khashoggi’s murder or the Mueller Investigation? Come to pray, imagine, share, debate, and join together for refreshments afterwards.
As with all Saturday morning services, this service is open to the public. Please RSVP to the temple office at 201-265-2272 by January 18th to be sure your name is on our guest list and to accommodate all attendees.
