iCAN Answer Now Teen Conference

The iCAN Answer Now Teen Conference will prepare Jewish high school students to discuss Israel and Jewish issues when they reach college. Participants will leave with an elevated awareness of what they may encounter on campus including the impact of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement and rising anti-Semitism. They will gain factual knowledge of Israel's history, acquire new skills, and learn of resources they can access now or on campus. Presented by Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey.

What to Expect

  • Opening session to include keynote speaker Chloe Valdary, College Ambassadors from Univ. of Penn, Rutgers, Univ. of Wisconsin, NYU, etc., on a student panel.
  • Sessions on Israel 101 and the Dual Narrative, Challenges for Jewish Students on Campus: BDS, Anti-Zionism, Anti-Semitism, Skills and Practice: How to Answer Now.
  • Take home a resource toolkit.
  • Positively Israel Resource fair including Israel programs like Masa and Birthright; Israeli products, technology, campus representatives
  • Brief Parent program (What did your kids learn today?)

Keynote Speaker - Chloé Valdary

A former Tikvah fellow at the WSJ, Chloé Valdary is the Director of Partnerships & Outreach at Jerusalem U. In 2015, she completed a fellowship under the auspices of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Bret Stephens. In 2013 and 2015, she was named as one of the top 100 people positively affecting Jewish life in the Algemeiner. Her work as a Zionist thinker and human rights activist has been featured on Huffington Post Live, Israel Hayom, The Jerusalem Post, and The Daily Beast, among others. 

Keynote Speaker - Shahar Azani

Shahar Azani is the Executive Director for StandWithUs Northeast Region. Prior to this role. Shahar was the Consul for Media Affairs and Spokesperson at the Consulate General of Israel in New York. In that capacity, Shahar was responsible for maintaining direct contact with American media in the tri-state area, focusing on political, social and business media. Shahar has also held diplomatic positions in Jerusalem, Los Angeles and Nairobi, Kenya.

Keynote Speaker - Jon Rudintzky

Jon Rudnitzky is a comedian, actor and former Saturday Night Live cast member. Jon was brought up right here in Bergen County, attending Northern Valley High School in Old Tappan. He is a proud Zionist and nephew of Knesset Member and former Israel Ambassador to the US Michael Oren. Jon will co-star in the upcoming feature film “Home Again” with Reese Witherspoon, Michael Sheen and Lake Bell.
