Israel Advocacy Forum

Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey was a co-sponsor, recently of an Israel Advocacy Forum. Held at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades and co-sponsored by StandWithUs, Hillel of Northern New Jersey and the JCC, approximately 100 people were in attendance. Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council, which administered the program, felt that effective Israel advocacy was important as Israel is being more and more threatened by on-going de-legitimization and demonization efforts of the BDS – Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions – campaign, which is spreading its one-sided message on college campuses around the country. The goal of the Forum was to teach the skills necessary to combat the BDS message and to advocate for Israel. The opening presentation was given by Gerald Ostrov of the Strategic Communications Center. Ostrov provided statistics on the broader community’s view on Israel.
