Pirke Avot teaches us that the world stands upon three distinctive activities The Study of Torah, The worship of God, and Deeds of Kindness. The Bar Bat Mitzvah services held in our synagogues give our Bnai Mitzvah the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of Torah and their ability to take on the responsibility of leading public worship. Through Kesher Olam we have been able to create a systematic vehicle by which the B’nai Mitzvah of our community can fulfill the third value of the Pirke Avot triad by engaging in meaningful community service as responsible Jewish young adults. - Rabbi Neal Borovitz, Temple Avodat Shalom
I want to say a special thank you for all the time and work this project has required of you. Rabbi and I are feeling the difference already – you have provided an arena for families to really do the doing of a mitzvah. Fewer families are now in “collection only” mode. I can’t wait to get this new class started. - Irene Bolton, Director of Lifelong Learning, Temple Beth Or.
