Ulpan is an educational program for teaching conversational Hebrew. Our classes use the Israeli Ulpan method and materials for teaching and improving Hebrew language skills, including conversation, comprehension, reading, and writing. Courses are taught at all levels in small, interactive classes by experienced Israeli teachers. The course textbook utilized by our Ulpan is called “Hebrew from Scratch” (parts 1 and 2).

COURSE LEVELS

Beginners Aleph, Bet and Gimmel
Beginners Aleph is designed for students who have no previous knowledge of Hebrew. Beginners Bet is designed for students who have some basic letter and word recognition, and are able to communicate in simple sentences. These courses will allow students to further express themselves and help them develop basic reading and writing skills. Beginners Gimmel is designed for students with some acquired reading, writing, and comprehension skills. This course will strengthen these skills, and will introduce additional vocabulary and basic
grammatical rules.

Intermediate Aleph, Bet and Gimmel
Intermediate Aleph is designed for students who can read and write short paragraphs. Students will develop self-confidence and achieve greater fluency in verbal and written expression. Additional grammatical rules and vocabulary will be introduced at this level. Intermediate Bet and Gimmel is designed for students who can express themselves in simple and compound Hebrew sentences. Students will continue to improve their fluency, increase their comprehension skills, and apply additional grammatical rules.

Advanced
This course is designed for students who have advanced oral and written expression, and can read complex sentences equivalent to those in a Hebrew newspaper.
The goal of this course is to analyze articles or stories and apply the grammatical rules learned, while discussing current events and literary articles in Hebrew.
